Beans Peas and Tomato Support Construction

I was trying to think of a good way to use the space set aside for the peas, beans and tomatoes. Looking and the amount of room we have, I just don’t see that it’s big enough to fit them all in using my usual A-frame for the beans. I’ve been needing to think of a better design for the pea supports too, last year’s wig-wam went very wig-wong. I’ve decided in the end on a single line trellis for each, kind of like the picture below:

I’ve often wondered if a single line would get better sun and be easier to pick from, we shall see. The idea will be to have two or three wooden stakes with wire strung along the top and centre of them. For the beans I will stick in a line of bamboo poles, tying them off to the wire. For the pea trellis I’ll have the same construction but with netting instead of poles, as for the tomatoes, their support poles will securely tied to the wire right from the beginning, making them really strong. The tomato vines, should they get too heavy, could be tied off against the wires should they need extra support too. The key to making this all work, I feel, will be in getting the stakes to stay securely in the ground. I don’t think I would far as building a cross bar, as in the photo.

Here’s a little diagram of what I’m planning:

Another problem I have to look out for with this set up will be whether I end up with a lack of space and shading of the other plants.
