First news from the onion growing experiment. I decided throw caution to the wind and plant the onion and leak seedlings out. Maybe there is an arguement that they would have benifited from growing on longer first? Maybe by leaving them growing on longer in small multitrays they may started to suffered from the lack of space? I figured the most likely situation is that I will find myself needing to be planting them out at this stage in the future, whether that be for the chance of the earliest summer crop (as in this experiement) or for growing for over wintering and so I really needed find out that they would grow on ok from this size. However, honestly though, I just ran out of room for them in the box! They are like tiny blades of grass, but they seem happy enough and, fingers crossed, they will get well settled in they’re new home. I didn’t count them, but I think I must have planted out at least 40-60 onions. I really hope they grow.
