I picked up two new berry plants today, a Tummelberry and a Jostaberry (pron. yostaberry) both have weird names, I know, but should be interesting. There isn’t a shop selling either of these fruit so I’m not going to have them any other way!
The Humble Tummelberry
The Tummelberry is a variation on the Tayberry which is a variation of the Raspberry and Blackberry. Complicated, eh? As you can see it looks like a giant Raspberry. Since we already have Raspberries it’ll be interesting to see the difference.
The Juicy Jostaberry
The Jostaberry is said to be a cross between the Gooseberry and the Blackcurrant, though it is more complicated than that really. Since we already have Gooseberries and Blackcurrants its going to be interesting to taste the difference here too. As you can see they look like giant Blackcurrants. That’s about life size in the photo, 1.2cm or so.
All this should make interesting jam and Nalewka, if we can get the Polish spirit.
